I should write something about Calacanis offering every (top50) social network poster $1000/month (before taxes) for (minimum) 150 entries monthly. Seen the obvious research work to get interesting articles this obviously is fairly underpaid.
Lets analyze this a little more : you have to find at least 5 interesting entries daily which haven’t been covered yet and get rewarded upto $7 each.
Paraphrazed, this is Calacanis’ offer :
Dear Michael Arrington, You have a popular and well-read blog. Publish at least 5 articles daily for me and I’ll pay you monthly $1000. You have to take care of your taxes and your insurance yourself, AOL is not paying those for you. I will monthly cash in the $60.000+ you generate at your site now, because I believe in money. Money finances my Porsche.
But honestly I can’t be bothered by Calacanis so will not write about his new offer and all the drama posts around.
Update : This reddit.com comment resumes everything.
Doesn’t he realize that 18 of them are digg users he couldn’t pay without violating child labor laws, 4 are newsvine users who if hired will only submit AP wire stories, 3 are reddit founders looking for some extra cash, and 2 are current netscape users who mistakenly believed they’d been using digg?
On another note, tomorrow Blogathon news. Yes I am not such a bad one.
