The last days were really unusual. It happy to me that I had to work for my AmEx money. Off course did my post from some days ago not pass unnoticed and Monday morning I had to go and see my supervisor. It was a short meeting and I had to go to the IBM headquarters, where I was on Tuesday morning. Yes I immediately rang them and told I was coming the next day.
Now IBM is already aware of my behaviour and also of my wish to leave the company. I wouldn’t mind to stay but not in this country. Now they have never told me that they wanted to transfer me to the States and that was my first question. Instead of waiting for what they had to tell me, I immediately asked them when they were gonna answer my request. The answer was simple. NO. The reason unknown -not expressed-, lets just blame my behaviour. I can live with that. I am totally aware of my arrogance. More even, instead giving them the opportunity to start complaining about me calling AmEx and IBM ‘ba$t@rd$’, I confronted them immediately with this post and asked how they were gonna deal with this. If they planned any disciplinary measures.
I had never dreamed of such a positive reaction. No they are not firing me, they didn’t kick me out instantaneously, what they could have done technically, either. But they wanted to know if it was provocation to get thrown out. When I told them that this is my blog and the expression of how I feel, a place where I ‘outed’ some frustration, a genuine conversation started. No I am still not gonna get outsourced, but can leave whenever I want. The only condition is that I respect not to work in the 6 weeks after I leave, an agreement we had already made before.
So far all good you’ld think. Well yesterday and today I really enjoyed working again. For the first 2 days in a row I really had to work. And there is still a lot to do. But luckily I can still do ‘everything I want to stop doing’, reading all the security mails and so on… non-stop realising what Microsoft is best in… creating security holes.
I admit it this post is really boring, but now I have to think of a new design for my new Blogcharm blog over at Blogexplosion. But before I do so, I would like to share this blog I stumbled upon with you.

Not that good idea to mention your employer by their name on your blog… but, hey what do I know.
Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.

Hang in there. Have you considered hiring a headhunter to find you a job in the states?

I agree with RJ, not a good idea to mention the company. However, you already know that.

Things are getting tight enough in terms of bullshit U.S. security that he’d have to have a work visa/clearance in place before a headhunter would even want to submit a foreigner for positions. headhunters after all are only in business for themselves: they make money if they get you a job, so they don’t want to waste their own time if it’s going to be a hassle.

(Yeah the English issue would need to be improved as well).
