Am I Famous Now…

...Many Authors Go Crazy

i am a looser

Today a lesson in ‘manners’. Let’s say you want to start promoting yourself as a web designer, promote an existing studio also in the area of web design. Everybody who has a blog and can mix two colours wants to be a designer nowadays. Fair enough.

Now if on your blog, you take a freely available theme (yes they are called themes) and change ::

1. header pictures (gettyimages.com does wonders)
2. font colour
3. look of sidebar titles (using a free font to make images out of them)

Afterwards, you stick a button of your design studio on your blog, just under a sidebar title ‘Theme by’. Nowhere on your whole site you mention the coder/designer of the original thing. Actually you hardly changed any fucking thing.

Now imagine how much time you might have put in your ‘redo’ (yes WP is a bitch, especially if you have no fucking clue of what you are doing and have to try out everything without understanding what you’re doing) and are asking yourself what this particular sentence is about then you exactly know how the designer feels when looking at a CSS file. Imagine how long the original theme developper needed to code his freely available theme.
And you stick your button on it, saying ‘I made this fucking horrible red shit’. Allow me to call you a thief. Allow me to judge your studio totally negative. Too bad if other persons work there as well.

If now when called out, you turn around it, allow me to call you a fucking pathetic and immature drama queen. Maybe you’ll never act that old as you are today.

If someone would do that to my shit, I would enjoy playing with some of the Google Page Rank improving tricks. I just don’t know if people would still find you in Google.

EDIT :: closing comments is SO pussy. And even if it is a variation it still is theft. No the truth hurts in some cases. It really does. Pathetic whining dumb cunt.

EDIT2 :: You know when it gets really funny? When after a flame you get a mail ::

Well I’m not removing the button because the headers, the colors, the fonts, the code I made for the drop downs are things I did. I did update the CSS to include Template Author.

Nice, don’t we all enjoy it when people put themselve in dumbass situations. It is even all funnier if trackbacks get blocked. Losers. I guess I’ll have to ask my favourite female wench who’s not crediting her.

Lol, Avitable. The funny thing is I like her as a person/blogger. I read her since 6 months and will continue reading her. Her blog is funny.

But I do hate what she/the studio ‘did’. Just as much as I hate friends who ‘professionally’ stole ideas/cocktails. Ask me and I will help you, explain. Just don’t take like that.
That’s what GPL-GNU, CC2.0, CC2.5 all is about. And that is how everyone ‘grows’.
One word kinda resumes everything in a matter of licences, respect :: linkware.

But I still do like her blog.

BTW, this particular example I already pointed it out to someone as soon as that template went up months ago. But I, and other people, know loads of those examples made by other ’studios’ as well. I hate them as much.

And in the thread over there I also said there was certain stuff she made I do like. But it still doesn’t mean I can bring up any form of respect for the studio.

As you can see on my lovely new K2 layout credit is given to the original creators. My alterations go father than a simply header image change, and colour alterations, but as their work is the base they still get the credit. Thank god I didn’t have to do all that early arse leg work I would have killed myself.
I’ve seen situations where designers steal others code, where it’s blatantly obvious it’s someone else’s, and in one case there was even credit to someone else. No one really cares though. It’s like a popularity contest, who evers this months hot designer is like the it girl (or guy) of the blogshpere and if anyone says anything “nasty” about them then by god watch out … or some such shit.

why do you keep picking on Lysie?

if someone hands me a pile of money to do a site and they say they want red text on a blue background, I’m going to do it. sure, I’ll think it looks terrible, but as a web designer your goal is SUPPOSED to be to make the client happy. I’ve done one or two sites that I absolutely hate - but my clients loved them and that’s all that matters. I’m not turning away hundreds of dollars because of it. If it’s THAT bad, I simply wouldn’t put my “Designed by” button on it.

I must be lost. I was under the impression that the issue here was a hack and slash code job where the individual took credit for a design without giving credit for the base, and on a side note, didn’t bother to mention Steph when it came to the heading text …
As for the whole colour combination bullshit, I believe there was a better way to make that work. But then again, I wasn’t the designer involved so who gives a rats arse.

Hey people, just in general. Stop the whining.
Here is the link to the original release of the theme used and claimed by that studio :: ***click***. Just saying k.
