I have been putting this of for a real long time now. Audioscobbler was one nerd part I never wanted to participate at. Last.fm the same. Actually it is the same. I finally surrenderd. Why? Because the Last.fm website is totally Web2.0 so it was definately worth having a look at.
After half a day now I can only say this : ‘Wowww!’. Social radio. No way. The decisive all-time music charts if you ask me. The principle is simple. You choose a station, based on tags. Just look for your favourite artist, pick an appropriate tag and start listening. If there’s a track you don’t like you skip it, or you can even ban it from your ‘preferences’. Or you ‘heart’ them.
I looked for ‘White Stripes’ have been listening around 8 hours now and skipped approx. 15% of the music that was played. Looking at my playcharts I am amazed. I find all my favourite artists back. Jane’s Addiction, The Chemical Brothers, The Pixies, Nirvana and Bjork, aso… even Air.
But what impresses me even more are the charts. Have a look at them. They will get famous, forget the iTunes download charts. Last.fm will decide about the all-time best (rated/most listened) artists.
Give Last.fm a try. It’s the best radio out there. There are several WP-Plugins as well. And if you like it, don’t forget to sign up as a plus member. I will definately after having listened a little more. The industry will definately not do them any favours, but this service must and will survive.

Supposedly this is because indie is the most bullshit term to describe music ever spawned to earth.
