Am I Famous Now…

...A Wise Man Knows Himself To Be A Fool

multi-facetuous post

If I were sure it were a word, I would say that is a heckuvatitle for an entry. Yesterday there has been an interesting entry over at the Blog Herald.

Blog networks and there owners, diplomacy and more. Today Mike Rundle answers.

An interesting read for me it, because I can relate to many things. Back in the old days when maintaining bigger computer communites in Germany I surely was known for my big mouth, my impulsive behaviour and somewhere back in the mind of many people, they realized that I even had quite some knowledge. I didn’t fear criticizing other community leaders, but never wanted to attack anyone personally. It was all good game to me.
Many liked my style, more even hated me because it.

One day madbull got born. A member of my community made me an avatar and only some minutes later the name was created. My new online identity.
When I started this blog, a little more then a year ago, I started this blog as madbull. With my snark and smart ass comments I had pretty soon had a decent amount of regulars and commenters (yes, one day I’ll finally have imported the last 750 Haloscan comments) all waiting for me to flame the next blogger.

WTF?! Flame? Was it all that people saw and came for?

Of course the popularity kept me going all those years and I continued being madbull online. Almost 6 years long. Untill this spring. Somewhen I was really bored of it, I had realized that readers preferred the bluntness on the actual content. Were it flames?
Not to me, I really thought I shared my ideas and hadn’t just impulsively written down a flame just for the fun of flaming.

So I got bored of it and killed madbull.

Franky joined the blog. One day I even changed madbull in the database. So far Franky has been blogging foot in the mouth (sorry Mike, this IS theft and I have no money :-P). Only sporadically I said something and that even from the underground. I let this blog disappear. Nevertheless every time I wrote something about another site, I gained more and more readers.

Lately I have been thinking about madbull’s comeback. Not the author, but his flames. Why? Because I don’t like to shuttup, I like to share my ideas, no matter if people like them or not. And remember, I actually do think before I write those posts.

Years ago I wanted to write a column. Yes Martin, snark and sarcasm are most of time not understood and people often will think it is an attack.
Today I want to be an online critic. OMG Mike, should I start wearing a belt before my pants drop?

Not a flamer.

Maybe I should make a disclaimer out of this post.

Come on, you can do better than that. No need to ask your mother if you are allowed to comment. ;-)
