Am I Famous Now…

...I Am So Coordinated

obd obsessive blogging disorder

I was surprized upon checking google, but only he had already played with the term, so I can still claim it, create the wikipage for it and many more. Most of all, in 300-400 years when dead and forgotten since a long time, suddenly someone will remind that I discovered the disorder… OBD or Obsessive Blogging Disorder.

I love writing and always have, but I didn’t want to write about this. What was I going to post about then? Last week’s last.fm charts? Or how I discovered how you can use last.fm as your online music library.

No, but last.fm is a step in the good direction already. I just subscribed and have gained access to the beta site. Feature I like most is the Taste-o-meter.
It measure the music compability between your profile and the profile of the user you just visited, based on common artists and tags.

This is not only a neat feature, but also gives a new spin to social networks. We all know sites like MySpace, networks where users will randomly visit your profile and add you to their list. No matter if they will ever contact you (virtual or in real life). Let the statistics grow.
Features like last.fm’s Taste-o-meter can make the experience more interesting tho.

Since quite some time everyone has neighbours, people who listened to the same kind of music the week before. The Taste-o-meter is not only better positioned on profile pages, but makes a common music taste more obvious.
And it gives me a good reason to stalk those people add them to the list.

I’ll report in some months if common music tastes are a more interesting factor to build a social network than MySpace-like adds.

Some of the bloggers I have been reading for months now also make me wonder what music they like, especially Heather, David, Gordon, Jonathan, Kit, Kyle, Mike, Paul, Roger, TUGs, and even Jason.
No not just A-Listers but all people who are non-stop online and I have been reading for some months now. :P

And now I go browse some more music profiles at last.fm. Oh btw if you subscribe at last.fm you get your own radio station, based on your profile. I guess 95% music you’ll like. For only $3/month.
More even, every tag you use becomes an own radio station. And you get access to the beta page. :D

I don’t usually technorati myself. I swear. But that’s I wandered over. I only visit sites that ping me twice. Although I may have caught your feed sooner.

I used to have a massive music collection and so my listening choices were far spread apart. Lately I listen to music on myspace.com/theartist

I’ve been meaning to check out Last.fm for weeks - I’m going to have to stop slacking off with these things. Still, I’m not sure sharing my musical tastes is necessarily a good thing :-)

David, my collection is also very broad. No day the same mood and I can enjo almost any style.

Simon, you should give it a go. I am always surprized to see how few coverage last.fm gets, especially from the savvyyy design, web20 people. And I can hardly think of a more dynamic and feature rich web20 example. Maybe flickr tops last.fm but all the rest, no matter their popularity just can’t beat everything last.fm permanently throws in. IMHO of course.

    karmatosed… OOOPPS!?!?! :shame:
Guess I’ll have to dig deeper into your archives. Stoopid me. When I discover a blog I hardly ever read archives. But that’s just me.
